S&S for Twin Cam is the most difficult for us at the moment because the Twin Cam has wider fins on the cylinders than the Evo. It's necessary to either shave a few milimeters off three of the fins between the cylinders, to get the S&S carb deeper into the motor, or use THE FLO-TEC SPACER KIT SHOWN ON THIS PAGE.

There are 2 ways to go with S&S for Twin Cam:

(1) The Complete FloTec Option

Our preferred fit for S&S carbs. Our short entrance manifold puts the carb 25mm deeper in the motor, enabling it to fit neatly in behind the breather bracket, with no extra spacers between the Bracket and the heads. This kit also contains a specially cast rubber gasket, which is profiled on the front edge to match the carb casting, and on the rear edge to match the manifold. The result is a clean and properly matched union with no ugly steps or overlaps. We prefer the shaved fins option because the spacer adds an extra 22-25mm to the out-hang of the assembly, and this can be an issue with leg clearance.

Using the S&S cast manifold is possible, but because of the length of the manifold entrance, the FLO-TEC Breather Bracket needs to be spaced 22-25mm from the heads. This kit contains the spacers, grooved to accept O-Rings. It adds 22-25mm to the out-hang of the FLO-TEC bracket, and intake components, which may cause leg clearance problems on some models.

A manual choke knob kit is needed to replace the choke lever that would usually be on the back of the S&S filter backing plate. You can obtain this from S&S, or we can supply you with our custom kit.

We do the spacers (with o-ring seals) with 3/8" threads to screw directly into the heads, and a corresponding female thread to receive the banjo bolts.

The threaded spacers space the bracket out 22-25mm from the heads - this increases the likelihood of the horn or filter assembly interfering with your leg, but you don't need to shave the three fins on your Twin cam motor.


Using the S&S manifold and FLO-TEC spacers adds 22-25 mm to the out-hang of the assembly.

WHAT TO ORDER

You'll need the FLO-TEC Breather Bracket kit (correct width for the size of your motor), with spacers, then horn and/or the air filter assembly of your choice.
